1) Nuthakki Bhanu Prasad :
Born in Viyayawada on Feb 21.1928 Nuthakki Bhanu Prasad was associated with India’s first Nuclear reactors as well with Bombay High Oil and gas fields. He obtained his Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Madras University.His contributions were recognized with the award of Padmashri to him in 1959, when he was just 31. In December 1973, he was personally selected by Mrs. Indira Gandhi to direct the activities of the Oil and Natural Gas Commission. Dr. Prasad is presently on the Board of Governors of the Administrative Staff College of India and President, Institute of Public Enterprise. The Petrotech 2003 Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Padmashri Dr. Nuthakki Bhanu Prasad for his contribution to India’s Upstream Petroleum Industry. |
2) Dr.Yelavarthi Nayudamma :
Prof.Y.Nayudamma, a Chemist and a Chemical Engineer by training, had immensely contributed to develop CLRI during initial stages of its establishment. He was greatly responsible for building international image for the institute and for establishing close linkages with the Indian leather industry. He had many National and International Awards/Honours to his credit including the Padmashri in 1971. He became Director General, CSIR, New Delhi and then Vice-Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. He also served in many prestigious National and International Committees. |
3) Dr.Kota Harinarayana :
Dr Kota Harinarayana, Distinguished Scientist & Programme Director, LCA was born in Berhampur in 1943, graduated from BHU in Mechanical Engineering, and obtained graduation in Aero-Engineering from IISc, Bangalore. He did his PhD at lIT, Mumbai, and holds Bachelors degree in Law. He was appointed as Programme Director, LCA in December 1985 and was concurrently holding the post of Director, ADE till June 1986. During 1995 he was elevated to Distinguished Scientist by DRDO. Dr Harinarayana was President, Aeronautical Society of India; Chairman, Technical Committee of ARDB; Fellow, Aeronautical Society of India and Indian Academy of Engineering. He received distinguished alumnus award from Aerospace Department, IISc, Bangalore in 1993 and from lIT, Mumbai in 1995. He is recipient of the National Aeronautics Prize, FIE Foundation Award-1996. Kota Harinarayana led the LCA (Tejas) development programme for15 years. He is now Vice- Chancellor, University of Hyderabad. Was awarded Padmashree in 2002. |
4) Dr.Koneru. Ramakrishna Rao :
Koneru Ramakrishna Rao, noted psychologists and social scientists ever since, became the Director of the Institute for Parapsychology, Foundation for Research on the Nature of Man, Durham, North Carolina. A student of the AU in the early 1950s, he joined the Philosophy Department. Showing special interest in the study of psychology Ramakrishna Rao went to the US for higher studies. His stay and study at Duke University during 1962-65 was an eventful period. His research papers earned for him recognition in the US universitiesHe was just 32 when he was elected president of the Parapsychological Association, an international association of parapsychologists. By then he had received the Beta Phi Mu Award. A moment of fulfilment for. 7) Dr Paruchuri Gangadhar Rao :
Dr Paruchuri Gangadhar Rao, Deputy Director & Head of Chemical Engineering area at Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Chennai has been appointed the Seventh Director of Regional Research Laboratory (RRL), Jorhat in 2002. RRL Jorhat is the only National Laboratory set-up in the North Eastern Region of India devoted fully for the economic development of N E Region through the application of Science & Technology based on the natural resources available in the region. It has a staff strength of over 488 people with approximately 175 scientific and technical professionals. Dr P G Rao is a Chemical Engineer of great distinction. He obtained his B Tech in Chemical Engineering from REC(NIT), Warangal in 1974 with distinction and M Tech in Chemical Plant Design from IIT, Madras in 1976. Dr Rao obtained his Ph D from IIT, Madras in 1995 for his thesis in the area of Polymer Engineering. Dr Rao joined RRL, Jorhat initially in 1976 as Scientific Assistant. Through focussed research and sustained hard work, he rose to the level of Scientist EI in 1986. He was involved in the chemical process development of agrochemicals like Phosphamidon, Quinolphos and Chlorofenvinphos which have earned FICCI award to RRL in 1982. |
8) Kosaraju Chandra Sekhara Rao :
Kosaraju Chandrasekhara Rao, working as associate dean in ANGRAU's Sri Venkateswara Agricultural College, has been selected for the `World lifetime achievement award' by the American Biographical Institute for his contribution to the field of agriculture. Prof. Rao has also been selected for `Udyog Gaurav award' and `Bharat Yogyata Award' announced by the Friendship Forum of India, New Delhi, for the year 2004. |
9) Dr.Roopkumar Kolli :
Dr. Rupa Kumar Kolli, Round 11 START Visiting Scientist Indian Institute for Tropical Meteorology, Pune, India. As a START (global change System for Analysis, Research and Training) Visiting Scientist, Dr. Kolli worked with staff of the Centre for Sustainability and Global Environment (SAGE) in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Kolli's work at SAGE focused on collecting data and information for an integrated regional assessment of the interactions between the changing climate, and ecological and human systems. His research project made important new contributions into the study of the role of land-use and land cover changes in regional climate change. 11) Dr.Tripuraneni sivaji Rao :
T.Sivaji Rao is Director, Centre for Environmental Studies, GITAM College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam. Formerly Principal, College of Engineering, Andhra University, Waltair, P.W.D Engineer at Nagarjuna Sagar dam. As an International Expert he was invited by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 1976. He delivered key-note addresses at two international conferences at Khatmandu, Nepal in 1979 and 1997. He is the recipient of Best State Teacher Award for 1986-87 and the Swami Pranavananda .National Award for 1991 of the University Grants Commission on Ecology and Environmental Sciences. He was a member of the A.P.State Pollution Control Board and Chairman of its Technical Committee and was member of the Environmental Appraisal committees of the Union Ministry of Environmental and Forests for Industries and River Valley projects (and during this period had an opportunity to review the Environmental Impact of Tehri Dam as a member of the Bhumbla Committee and as a member of the high-power committee on seismic safety of Tehri dam appointed by the Government of India in April 2001. |
